About the Bulldog Foundation

The Bulldog Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports the students and teachers of the Big Spring School District in Newville, Pennsylvania. Recognized by the IRS in 1996 and run by alumni and community members, the foundation raises money locally and spends it locally: on scholarships for graduating seniors, on grants for classroom projects, and on recognition of the people who built Big Spring’s reputation.

Our mission: to put community dollars to work for Big Spring students and teachers through scholarships, classroom grants, and recognition of the people who make Big Spring strong.

What we fund. Scholarships for Big Spring High School seniors headed to college or into a trade. Teacher grants for classroom projects tied to district goals. The Bulldog Foundation Hall of Fame, which honors Big Spring alumni each November.

Our relationship with the district. The Bulldog Foundation is independent of the Big Spring School District. The district does not control our board, our funds, or our decisions, and gifts to the foundation stay with the foundation. We work with the district’s teachers and administrators on everything we fund: building principals review teacher grant requests before they reach our board, scholarships are presented at Senior Awards Night, and Hall of Fame inductions take place at the high school with the district’s cooperation.
